So What is This About?

Understanding Alzheimer’s Disease: The Progression of Alzheimer’s Disease in the Brain

This brochure is an educational tool that explains the progression of Alzheimer’s disease in the brain. It is designed for caregivers, family, and friends -- as well as professionals – who assist persons with Alzheimer’s disease and their caregivers.

The brochure has brain diagrams as well as circle charts that show the functions of the brain that remain as the disease progresses over a period of years. It briefly explains what functions are lost and what functions remain so persons living with the disease can concentrate on nurturing what remains, rather than concentrating on what is lost.

The information is taken from two books by the same co-authors:
Alzheimer’s Disease – The Dignity Within: A Handbook for Caregivers, Family, and Friends, and A Caregiver’s Guide to Alzheimer’s Disease: 300 Tips for Making Life Easier

Understanding Alzheimer’s Disease: Caregiving Choices

This brochure is an educational tool that explains three different caregiving styles that can be used with those who have been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease. Someone observing caregivers’ interactions will be able to detect the amount of control caregivers keep or give away as they work with persons who have the disease.

Caregivers basically have three styles that can be used: the “You” style, the “We” style, and the “I” style

The brochure gives an overview of each caregiving style accompanied by questions that can guide caregivers to choose the best style at a specific time.
